Entering its second year, The Ice at Park Place is the perfect spot to spend an afternoon, evening or even a day off from school. Located in the Park Place mixed-use center in Leawood, the venue offers not only ice skating but also dining, shopping, office space, parks and more. It’s located close to Town Center Plaza so come for skating and then head next door to see a movie.
With winter break looming, you may be looking for an activity that will keep the kids entertained and help them burn off some of their energy. Ice skating is the perfect activity to get some fresh air, exercise and fun, all at the same time! I have to admit, I am not much of a skater, but I laced up the skates for the kids’ sake and we all had a great time. As a bonus, no one (and by no one I mean me) suffered any major injuries!
The Ice is open through February. Admission to skate is $6.00 per person. Skates can be rented for $3.00 or you can bring your own. In addition to the many street parking spots located by the skating rink, there is a parking garage conveniently located near the rink where parking is always free and will keep your car dry and snow-free.
Not only is skating a great family activity, it is also the perfect spot for a date night or girls’ night out. After an afternoon or evening of skating at The Ice, head next door to Ingredient for some hot cocoa and cookies. Or visit Pacivgo where you can also enjoy hot cocoa or, if you aren’t too cold, gelato (and as far as the Sarver Family is concerned, it has to be pretty cold for us to say “no” to gelato!).
So what are you waiting for? Put those insecurities behind you, grab the kids and head over to The Ice for a great way to spend a winter day with your family.
Hot Tip:
Not much of a skater? No worries! There are plenty of benches from which to view the action.
